Definition:
Hajdu-Cheney syndrome is a genetic disorder of the connective tissue which causes severe and excessive bone resorption leading to osteoporosis.
Diagnosis:
Diagnosis is through clinical and laboratory findings include endocrine function tests. Radiographic examination is also used.
Treatment:
Drug therapy bisphosphonates is often used to treat problems with bone resorption.
Symptoms and Signs:
Symptoms includes breakdown of bone which is most common in the bones of the fingers and toes, deformed skull, short stature, laxity of the joints and reduction of the bone mass (Olivera Potparic, John Gibson A Dictionary of Congenital Malformations and Disorders).
Causes:
Hadju-Cheney Syndrome direct cause is not known however, genetic transmission is often linked to the cause of the medical condition.
