Hearing Impairment
Definition:

Hearing impairment refers to reduction in sensitivity to sounds, which may be accompanied by some loss in the ability to correctly interpret auditory stimuli even when amplified (Stolov, W., Clowers, M. 2000. Handbook of Sever Disability,p. 395)

Symptoms include total loss of hearing or gradual loss of the same.


Causes:

Hearing impairment may be caused by biological causes like obstruction of the ear canal, middle ear abnormalities; chemical and some medical administration causes hearing impairment. Loud environmental conditions as well as accidents may also cause the impairment.
