Maturity Onset Diabetes of The Young
Definition:

Maturity onset diabetes of the young is a condition in which the body has defective insulin but does not include any forms of type 2 diabetes.

Treatment:

Doctors often initiate standard diabetes treatments such as insulin and oral hypoglycemic agents. Treatment is dependent on the affected individual.

Symptoms and Signs:

Some patients may experience hyperglycemia and the common symptoms of diabetes, which include increased thirst and urination. Other patients however, do not experience the symptoms but may have been accidentally diagnosed through the discovery of high glucose during testing for other reasons, or screening of a diabetic patient's relatives. Mild hyperglycemia may also be discovered in pregnant women during a routine glucose tolerance test.

Causes:

The condition is genetically inherited.
