Osteonecrosis
Definition:

Osteonecrosis is rare type of disease that often leads to the inadequate supply of the blood in the patient's bone tissue. As any living tissue, the bone will require a certain quantity of blood to be able to function properly. Without the adequate supply of blood, this condition lead to bone tissue death.


Diagnosis:

MRI and other imaging studies are the main basis for the diagnosis of this disease.


Treatment:

Fosamax is one of the primary treatment for bone diseases including osteonecrosis. This is a type of an oral biphosphate that have displayed a promising effect on patients suffering from this condition.


Symptoms and Signs:

The early osteonecrosis symptoms may be mistaken with arthritis. Sporadic discomfort can gradually develop into serious pain that will require immediate medical condition. The hip and groin area are the usual target locations of this disease.


Causes:

The primary causes of osteonecrosis are actually divided into two different categories: the non-traumatic and post-traumatic osteonecrosis. This means, this condition may be brought about by a significant trauma to a certain area. It could also be due to certain complications of underlying diseases such as kidney problems, lupus, connective tissue problem, alcoholism and high levels of corticosteroids.
