Definition:
Peanut hypersensitivity or peanut allergy is a form of food allergy but are distinct from that of nut allergies. It is a specific hypersensitivity to some dietary substances found on peanuts which causes a possible overreaction of the body's immune system. This hypersensitivity may also lead to an extremely severe symptoms to countless people, physycally. Peanut hypersensitivity is the most often cause of death related to food. An extremely severe peanut allergy may result to anaphylaxis, which is often an emergency situation that requires real immediate attention from attending physician and should be treated with epinephrine.
Diagnosis:
Diagnosis is done by taking medical history and asking questions of what foods has the patient eaten.
Treatment:
While there are already some companies that developed some promising and also effective drugs which can counteract peanut allergies, it still has been proven in countless legal battles. Peanut hypersensitivity is most commonly treated by administering diet that excludes peanuts and serious avoidance of all foods that may contain or be contaminated with peanuts or even peanut oils.
Symptoms and Signs:
Symptoms of peanut hypersensistivity can include vomiting, diarrhea, urticaria, angioedema or swelling of the throut, lips, and face, acute pain in the abdomen, exacerbation of the atopic eczema, asthma, and anaphylactic shock.
Causes:
Penust hypersensitivity has something to do with the inability of our body especially the digestive tract to process peanuts.
