Periodic Fever, Aphthous Stomatitis, Pharyngitis And Adenitis
Definition:

Periodic fever, aphthous stomatitis, pharyngitis and adenitis syndrome is a medical condition that usually starts with young children. In this condition children would develop high fever which mostly occurs at a periodic interval of 3-5 weeks. This is often times accompanied with pharyngitis, adenitis, and/or aphthous ulcers.


Diagnosis:

Diagnosis of Periodic Fever, Aphthous Stomatitis, Pharyngitis and Adenitis is done through consultation with a doctor and observing the patient for clinical symptoms. Patients manifesting the symptoms are then treated and observed again for initial responses to the treatment given.


Treatment:

Physicians have developed a possible treatment for Periodic Fever, Aphthous Stomatitis, Pharyngitis and Adenitis. It is through a single dose of prednisone given at the beginning of the fever episode. Although in some few cases, the dose of prednisone can cause the episodes to become even more frequent.

The most common symptom of Periodic Fever, Aphthous Stomatitis, Pharyngitis and Adenitis are, as its name implies, periodic high fever, adenitis, aphthous ulcers, and pharyngitis.


Causes:

Periodic Fever, Aphthous Stomatitis, Pharyngitis and Adenitis is often times discussed with other syndromes of periodic fevers, however it is still unknown if the cause is genetic or because of an initial infection.
