Definition:

Persistent Sexual Arousal Syndrome is also known as Persistent Genital Arousal Disorder. This disorder results in a persistent arousal of the genitalia, with or even without orgasm or engorgement which is even unrelated to any feelings of desire sexually. Arousal caused by this syndrome can sometimes be very intense and can persist for over an extended period of time for days or even weeks.


Diagnosis:

Treatments for Persistent sexual arousal syndrome can be done by discontinuing use of known medication that can cause it. Surgical treatment is also effective in some cases of this syndrome. In some cases where the cause is not known, arousal is reduced through the use of some antidepressants, anaesthetising gels, and antiandrogenic agents.

In some cases recorded in history, the Persistent sexual arousal syndrome is due to a malformation of the pelvic arterial-venous forming arterial branches connecting to the penis or the clitoris.
