Definition:

Bereavement is a psychological state in which a person succumbs to depression due to a loss of a loved one. This is typical among people who have lost their loved ones due to a traumatic or sudden event.


Diagnosis:

Bereavement can be diagnosed by counseling as well as strict observance of the attitudes of the person who lost a loved one.


Treatment:

Treatment for bereavement is done by counseling and consistent moral support from family and friends.


Symptoms and Signs:

The common symptoms of bereavement are consistent crying, loss of thoughts; frequent reminiscing of memories of the lost loved one. Bereaved persons also sometimes show violent tantrums and would want to be left alone.


Causes:

Bereavement is caused by the trauma of sudden, unexpected loss of a loved one. There a persons who take a lot of time to accept reality such that they tend to relive the memories of the past.
