Definition:
Calcific bursitis is the extreme inflammation of the joints due to calcification of the bones. Among the commonly affected areas are shoulders, hips, and calves. Tendons in these areas are likewise prone to damages.

X-ray imaging is used to detect calcified joints.
Treatment:
Calcific bursitis can be treated by anti-inflammatory drugs such as hydrocortisone. Meanwhile, severe cases may require removal of calcified bursas through surgery.
Symptoms and Signs:
The signs of calcific bursitis are extreme pain and numbness in the joints, as well as tenderness of the affected areas.
Causes:
Unlike other forms of bursitis, this kind is caused by small calcium deposits that solidify in the bones. These deposits tend to perforate the joints causing pain and perforation of cartilage.
