Definition:
End stage renal disease, or chronic renal failure, is the progressive damage of the kidneys. In this stage the renal organs no longer function therefore affecting renal excretion and other body activities.
Diagnosis:
End stage renal disease can be diagnosed by endoscopy, and by laboratory tests during the onset of other diseases.
Treatment:
Treatments to the disease are given to help slow down the deterioration process. This involves restrictive diets and drug medication. Severe conditions will require kidney replacement.
Symptoms and Signs:
Among the symptoms of chronic renal failure are extreme urinary tract infections, pain and swelling of the renal area, high fever and chills, abdominal pain and inability of the renal organs to function normally.
Causes:
End stage renal disease is caused by other major and progressive diseases such as renal cancer, colon cancer and AIDS.
