Definition:

Erysipeloid is a cutaneous disease characerized by indolent cellulitis. This disease is common among meat and fish handlers.


Diagnosis:

Erysipeloid is confirmed due to the presence of the erysipelas in the affected areas.


Treatment:

Topical and oral antibiotics are the prescribed treatments for the disease.


Symptoms and Signs:

The most common symptom of erysipeloid are swollen hands. Erysipelas also occur but more often in the hands and arms.


Causes:

The disease is caused by Streptococcus bacteria.
