Germinal mosaicism is a rare autosomal dominant disease in which neither parent has the disease. It is a sporadic genetic disease in which one of the parent gamete cells is defective, but their normal cells are not. Mosaic Downs syndrome is a kind of germinal mosaicism. Parents are advised to undergo genetic counseling to see how the effects of the disease can be reduced.
