Definition:
Parvovirus infection is a viral infection that usually occurs in children and characterized by the bright red rashes on the cheeks. It is also known as erythema infectiosum, the “Slapped-cheek disease” and the “fifth disease”.
Diagnosis:
Parvovirus infection is diagnosed through physical observation and blood tests.
Treatment:
Self-care treatment is sufficient to treat the parvovirus infection but Blood transfusions may be necessary in some cases.
Symptoms and Signs:
Symptoms include the occurrence of the slight fever, unusual and recurrent headache, itching, upset stomach, fatigue, sore throat, and bright red rashes on both cheeks.
Causes:
Parvovirus infection is said to be caused by parvovirus B19.
