Pimples
Definition:

Pimples are bumps that appear in the the skin, usually in the face, neck, chest, and back, which results from a blockage in the skin's pore.


Diagnosis:

Pimples are diagnosed simply by physical observation.


Treatment:

Pimples may be treated through the following: application of topical treatments on the affected area, and the taking of antibiotics to kill the bacteria. Laser and light-based therapies, as well as other cosmetic procedures, like chemical peels and microdermabrasion may likewise be done. Also, oral contraceptives are said to be effective treatment for pimples.


Symptoms and Signs:

There are no symptoms. The bumps, usually reddish in color, simply materialize on the skin.


Causes:

The causes of the appearance of pimples are the skin's overproduction of oil, irritation of the hair follicles on the skin due to irregular shedding of dead skin cells, and the buildup of bacteria on the skin.
