Definition:
Nerve cancer pertains to a type of carcinoma affecting the nerve cells, often involving a tumor that originates from the cells of the nervous system. Nerve cancer is also usually associated with brain cancer.
Diagnosis:
Imaging studies such as CT scans and MRIs can reveal the presence of a malignant tumor in the brain. In addition, a biopsy of sample tissue can confirm the diagnosis.
Treatment:
Treatment of nerve cancer may include surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy.
Symptoms and Signs:
Nerve cancer generally presents with these symptoms: immense pain; the appearance of a painful lump; as well as difficulty moving both arms and legs.
Causes:
Nerve cancer is caused by a cancerous tumor growing in the nerve cells of the brain. Most forms of nerve cancer are mostly invasive.
