Flea Bites
Definition:

Flea bits are itchy spots that occur on the skin due to bites of parasitic insects called fleas.


Diagnosis:

Flea bites are diagnosed by physical examination.


Treatment:

Flea bites can be treated with calamine lotion to ease the itchiness. Rubbing alcohol is also recommended to disinfect the skin as well as keep the bites from swelling.


Symptoms and Signs:

Flea bites are characterized by swollen red spots on the skin. These spots are itchy, and may cause rashes and sores due to incessant scratching.


Causes:

Flea bites are caused by a parasitic insect named siphonaptera. It is one of the most common parasitic insects known to man, next to head lice. Fleas live on animal fur, such as dogs.
