Gorlin Syndrome
Definition:

Gorlin syndrome is a disease affecting the connective tissues. It is also referred to as nevoid basal cell carcinoma.


Diagnosis:

Gorlin syndrome can be diagnosed by genetic testing.


Treatment:

There is no specific treatment yet for gorlin syndrome. Doctors however use laser therapy and surgery to remove carcinomas. Avoidance of radiation treatment is also helpful since it has the tendency to aggravate the condition.


Symptoms and Signs:

Persons with gorlin syndrome suffer from multiple cell carcinomas and jaw cysts.


Causes:

Gorlin syndrome is an autosomal dominant disorder. The defect lies on the cell's chromosome 9.
