Definition:
Veruccas, also known as plantar warts, skin lesions that grow on the soles of the feet. These warts are caused by the human papilloma virus (HPV), but they are not harmful to the body’s internal organs.
Diagnosis:
Veruccas are diagnosed based on the presence of the warts in the sole of the feet, as well as the given knowledge that the patient underwent treatment for HPV infection.
Treatment:
Treatment is done by avoidance of walking barefooted, as well as topical medications such as salicylic acid. Severe stages of veruccas may require surgical removal.
Symptoms and Signs:
The main characteristic of veruccas is the development of the warts on the plantar area. The warts may bleed when tried to be lacerated, and may cause pain in walking.
Causes:
Veruccas are a side effect of treating HPV infection. And since the plantar is exposed to various environmental substances due to walking, other bacteria may cause aggravation to the warts and make them multiply.
