Definition:
Vibrio Vulnificus is a gram negative bacteria, most commonly rod shaped, belongs to the genus vibrio which usually present in estuaries and coastal areas and is commonly associated with the vibrio cholera which causes cholera.
Diagnosis:
Diagnosis is made through CBC count, serum level tests, stool examination for blood and fecal leukocytes and coagulation tests. Imaging tests such as chest radiography and CT Scan may also be required to determine the presence of the medical condition and rule out other possibilities of the disease.
Treatment:
Treatment includes administration of undergoing therapies that are designed to lessen the infection such as administration of antibiotics such as doxycycline.
Symptoms and Signs:
Symptoms includes diarrhea, abdominal pain and occurrence of blistering dermatitis.
Causes:
It is said to be caused by eating seafood and by exposing open wounds in the contaminated water.
