Whipworm
Definition:

Whipworm is a roundworm that looks like a whips with wider handles, that affects the human large intestine.


Diagnosis:

Diagnosis is made through undergoing stool ova and parasite examination to confirm the presence of whipworm eggs.


Treatment:

Treatments includes administration and use of broad-spectrum anthelminthic agents and administration of mebendazole.


Symptoms and Signs:

Symptoms includes bloody diarrhea , blood loss, anemia and rectal prolapse.


Causes:

Infections brought about by the whipworm is said to be caused by accidental ingestion of eggs that usually hatch in the small intestines.
