Extrapontine myelinolysis is a neurological disorder wherein the pons area, or myelin sheath in which the nerve cells are located, is damaged.

Treatment:
There is no exact treatment for the disorder; it can only be prevented by regulating hyponatremia correction. The correction should not go beyond 1mEq/L per hour.
Symptoms and Signs:
Among the symptoms present in persons with the disorder are dysphagia, loss of consciousness, and double vision. The person may experience sudden immobility of the body, save for eye movement.
Causes:
The main cause of the disease is the rapid correction of low sodium levels in the blood.
