Fumarylacetoacetase deficiency disease is a rare metabolic disorder in which the blood and urine lack a certain kind of enzyme called tyrosine. Tyrosine is one of the enzymes needed by the body to perform normal body functions. Fumarylacetoacetase deficiency disease one of the three types of tyrosine deficiency disorders: Type I tyrosinemia is characterized by episodic lethargy, bleeding, hepatic necrosis and seizures due to the lack of fumarylacetoacetase.
