Definition:
Left heart failure is a condition wherein the left side of the heart becomes unable to pump enough blood to the different parts of the body.
Diagnosis:
Left heart failure can be diagnosed by undergoing a physical as well as an electrocardiogram (ECG) examination.
Treatment:
The disease can be treated by managing the symptoms the patient experiences. It can also be done by surgery using cardiac cauterization.
Symptoms and Signs:
People with left heart failure usually suffer from shortness of breath, difficulty to lie down, palpitations, irregular heartbeat, fatigue and weakness. Others tend to be overweight.
Causes:
Left heart failure is caused by recent heart attacks, blockage of the arteries, hypertension, alcohol abuse and infections in the heart muscles.
