Definition:
Thrombocytopenia absent radius syndrome is a rare genetic disorder characterized by low amounts of blood platelets and the absence of radii (forearm bones). Some patients meanwhile have an underdeveloped set of forearm bones accompanied with congenital heart defects and short stature.
Causes:
The condition is believed to be an autosomal recessive disorder.
