Corneal Flash Burns
Definition:

Corneal Flush Burns is the medical condition where there is damage of the cornea due to exposure to ultraviolet radiation from sources of ultraviolet light especially the sun, welder's arc and halogen desk lamps.


Diagnosis:

Diagnosis is made through an examination of an opthalmologist who will conduct examination of the eye through the use of a slit lamp to examine the eye surface and numbing eyedrop to let the eyes be examined and through the use of fluorescein.


Treatment:

Treatment includes eye patched and wearing glasses to alleviate the pain. Eye medications such as eye drops may also be used.


Symptoms and Signs:

Symptoms includes pain in the eyes, bloodshot and red eyes, tears that are unusual and excessive and sensation of foreign body in the eye.


Causes:

It is said to be cause by exposure to ultraviolet light especially the sun, snow blindness, flood lamp of photographers, halogen lamps, solar eclipse and lightnings.
