Akureyri Disease
Definition:

Akureyri disease, also known as chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), is a complex disorder presented by chronic fatigue that cannot be improved by bed rest.


Diagnosis:

CFS is diagnosed by keen observation of the present symptoms.


Treatment:

Treatment is done by managing the symptoms. Less strenuous activities should be undertaken, and avoid stressful mental activity and anxiety to prevent the disease from worsening.


Symptoms and Signs:

Apart from fatigue, persons with Akureyri disease show lower levels of activity, muscle pain and weakness, memory loss and insomnia. The symptoms may last for many years.


Causes:

The exact causes for the disease are unknown.
