Definition:
Cutaneous Mastocytosis is a medical condition characterized by a disorder where there is a mast cell proliferation and accumulation in the organs and the skin. It is also known as the Urticaria pigmentosa, Maculopapular cutaneous mastocytosis, diffuse cutaneous mastocytosis and mastocytoma of the skin.
Diagnosis:
Diagnosis is made through undergoing a series of tests like CBC counts, plasma or urinary histamine level tests, and undergoing total tryptase level test.
Treatment:
Treatment includes administration of aspirin, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, thiamine, scopolamin, radiographic dyes and dextran.
Symptoms and Signs:
Symptoms includes occurrence of pruritic cutaneous lesions, headache, dyspnea, wheezing, nausea, syncope, skin lesions, nodules and tumors.
Causes:
Cutaneous Mastocytosis is said to be caused and a response to an abnormal stimuli.
