Definition:
Decompression Sickness otherwise known as the Diver's Disease, the bends or the Caisson disease is the medical condition where there is a decreased in the pressure around the body. It is said to be a diving hazard.
Diagnosis:
Diagnosis is made through physical examination of the person.
Treatment:
Treatment includes recompression therapy, oxygen first aid and open-circuit oxygen resuscitation.
Symptoms and Signs:
Symptoms of Decompression Sickness includes occurrence of bubbles accompanying sharp pain, confusion and memory loss, headache, scotoma, tunnel vision, diplopia, fatigue, seizures, dizziness vertigo, nausea, vomiting, burning sensatins, chest pain, dyspnea and dry coughing.
Causes:
It is said to be cause by excess inert gases which have dissolved in body tissues and liquids while the gas is being inhaled at higher pressure making a physical solution as the pressure lessen and gas bubbles forms within the body.
