Definition:
Dental Abscess or tooth abscess or root abscess is pus that is usually enclosed in the tissue of the jaw bone at the end or tip of an infected tooth which is usually caused by a bacterial infection that has accumulate in the tooth's soft pulp.
Diagnosis:
Diagnosis is made through an examination conducted by dentists and undergoing dental x-ray to know the extent of the tooth abscess.
Treatment:
Treatment includes tooth extraction, root canal therapy, tooth cleaning and invasive surgery.
Symptoms and Signs:
Symptoms of Dental Abscess includes excruciating tooth ache, throbbing pain at the site of the infection, swelling of the lymph glands in the neck.
Causes:
It is said to be caused by an untreated tooth decay or extensive periodontal disease.
