Diabetic Gastroparesis
Definition:

Diabetic Gastroparesis is a complication brought about by diabetes that usually occurs from neyropathy of the vagus nerve or the stomach nerve causing difficulties in digesting foods.


Diagnosis:

Diagnosis is a made through stomach emptying tests, barium x-ray, radioisotope gastric emptying scan, blood test, CBC, ultrasound and upper endoscopy.


Treatment:

Treatment includes control of blood sugar levels, medications pertaining to stomach contractions, erythromycin, domperidome and antiemetric. Endoscopic injections and the use of jejustonomy tubes may also be later on advised to bypassing the stomach.


Symptoms and Signs:

Symptoms includes nausea, vomiting, belching and feeling of fullness.


Causes:

It is said to be cause by the damage caused by the diabetes to the vagus nerve which are responsible for the movement and control of the food in the digestive system.
