Definition:
Dysfunctional Uterine Bleeding is a medical condition where there is abnormal bleeding that is not due to any physical cause.
Diagnosis:
Diagnosis is made through CBC, blood clotting profiling, hormonal tests, Serum HCG and thyroid function tests including ultrasound.
Treatment:
Treatment includes administration of oral birth pills and undergoing progesterone therapy, endometrial ablation or removing of the lining of the uterus and even hysterectomy.
Symptoms and Signs:
Symptoms includes changing menstrual cycle and flows, hirsuitism, hot flashes, infertility, tenderness of the vagina and mood swings.
Causes:
It is said to be caused by hormonal imbalance due to emotional stress, excessive exercise and obesity.
