Embolism
Definition:

Embolism is a medical condition whereby an object migrates from one part of the cbody and causes occlusions or blockage of blood vessels in another part of the body.


Diagnosis:

Diagnosis is made through Electrocardiogram or ECG, doppler ultrasound,arterial blood gas study through blood tests and ventilation perfusion scan. Imaging test such as x-rays, CT scan and Mri may also be advised to show the size of the blockage.


Treatment:

Treatment includes embolectomy and incision in the affected artery and aspiration. Administration of anticoagulant drugs are also use to treat and prevent blood clotting.


Symptoms and Signs:

Symptoms includes pain, numbness, tingling sensations, coldness, muscular spasms and twitches, fever and swelling of one leg.


Causes:

It is said to be caused by an embolus that caused blood clotting.
