Definition:
Mayer Rokitansky Kuster Hauser syndrome, also known as Mullerian agenesis, refers to a medical condition in which a female has a her uterus missing. This disease is a cause of primary amenorrhea.
Diagnosis:
Genetic testing and counseling is done to diagnose the disease.
Treatment:
Treatment is done by managing the symptoms such as increasing comfort during intercourse. In vitro fertilization is thus recommended since women affected by the disease can never carry pregnancy.
Symptoms and Signs:
Among the signs of this disorder is the absence of a uterus, inability to be pregnant and painful sexual intercourse. Kidney problems are also present.
Causes:
The disease is caused by a genetic defect in the 46, XX chromosome.
