Anal Stenosis
Definition:

Anal stenosis is the condition in which the anal opening is narrowed. This causes a difficulty in releasing stool during defecation.

Diagnosis:

Physical examination is done to determine anal stenosis.

Treatment:

Treatment is done by gentle dilation of the anal opening. Suppositories help in widening the anal passage but can cause risks. Softening the stool using juice diets also help treat the disorder.

Symptoms and Signs:

The main symptoms of anal stenosis are severe discomfort during defecation, and pressure in releasing stool. This condition is common among children, particularly with colicky babies.

Causes:

Anal stenosis is a congenital defect due to malformations of the fetus during pregnancy.
