Undifferentiated Somatoform disorder
Definition:

Undifferentiated somatoform disorder is defined as a disorder wherein a person has physical complaints for more than six months that cannot be attributed to any medical condition, or the complaints are far more severe than the actual medical condition.


Diagnosis:

This disorder may be diagnosed through a thorough interview and physical examination of the person affected.


Treatment:

Referral to a mental health expert may be the best start of a cure to persons suffering this condition.


Symptoms and Signs:

The symptoms of undifferentiated somatoform disorder are physical complaints, such as pain, fatigue, appetite loss, and gastrointestinal problems, no physical/medical reason can be found for the complaints, and the physical problems persist even after the person has been told that no explanation can be found.


Causes:

It is not clear what causes undifferentiated somatoform disorder. It is believed by some that psychological causes may play a part in its development, such as family problems, depression and stress. Other possible causes include paying obsessive attention to any minor changes or sensations that the affected party’s body experiences.
