Aparoschisis, also known as gastroschisis, is a very rare birth defect in which the infant is born with a small abdominal cavity. The organs inside the abdomen are not protected due to the absence of a membranous sac that serves as the walls of the organs. This condition can cause inflammation in the intestines.
