Definition:
Carbuncle is a medical term used to refer to the abscess which may be larger than a boil which usually has a one or more opened pus in the skin. It is commonly grows and seen in the nape and the neck of a person.
Diagnosis:
Diagnosis includes physical examination and examination of the mass forming in the patient's skin. A biopsy may also be used to confirm the medical condition and rule out other possible causes.
Treatment:
Treatment for carbuncle includes administration of medicine and application of skin creams to lessen the swelling and spread of the carbuncle.
Symptoms and Signs:
Symptoms includes the occurrence of an abscess which is usually larger than a boil and may be pea in size. It may also manifest in the form of fatigue, fever and itching.
Causes:
Carbuncle is usually caused by the collection of fluid forming a large mass on one area.
