Adult-Onset Ceroidosis
Definition:

Adult-onset ceroidosis is a group of rare disorders that affect the nerve cells. It is also referred to as Kuf’s disease. In this condition abnormal material develops in the brain, thus destroying the nerve cells.


Diagnosis:

Diagnosis is done by genetic testing.


Treatment:

Treatment is done by managing the symptoms.


Symptoms and Signs:

Among the signs of the disease are an abnormal increase of muscle tone, visual disturbances, mental retardation, seizures and ataxia.


Causes:

Adult-onset ceroidosis is an autosomal recessive disorder.
