Definition:
A cataract is a cloudy or an area you cannot see through in the lens of the eye. This disease develops slowly and do not disturb your eyesight early on. Cataract is not a tumor; it is a new growth of skin or tissue over the eyes, but a misting of the lens itself.
Diagnosis:
You will be having an eye examination which includes some tests like Slit-lamp examination, Visual acuity test, and Retinal examination.
Treatment:
One of the recommended medications for this disease is the cataract surgery. This surgery is authorized only when vision loss inhibits with usual activities. There are two types of cataract surgery; first is Extracapsular surgery and the second one is Photoemulsification.
Symptoms and Signs:
Symptoms include loss of color intensity, cloudy, fuzzy, foggy, or filmy vision, frequent changes in eyeglass prescription; the glare from bright lights causes vision problems at night, especially while driving, sensitivity to glare from lamps or the sun, decreased contrast sensitivity or the ability to see shades, or shapes in contrast to the backdrop.
Causes:
If the lens of the eye becomes cloudy, the condition is known as a cataract. Cataracts develop faster in the presence of some environmental circumstances to be precise smoking or exposure to other toxic substance.
