Catheter Infection
Definition:

Catheter Infection is a medical condition where there is bacterial infection due to the insertion of catheter which is a tube that is inserted to provide a proper drainage or the body fluids or those injected in the body.


Diagnosis:

Diagnosis is made through physical examination as well as undergoing laboratory tests in order to determine the presence and extent of the infection due to the bacteria caused by the improper insertion of the catheter in the body.


Treatment:

Treatment includes removal of the catheter and administration of antibiotics to counter infections.


Symptoms and Signs:

Symptoms includes pain on the area where the catheter was inserted improperly, fever due to infections and chilling.


Causes:

Catheter infection is said to be caused by the bacterial infection due to the improper insertion of catheter in the body.
